NOTHING LASTS FOREVER
AAPI COLLECTION
SCOPE: SUMMER 2022
ROLE: GRAPHIC ARTIST, PHOTOGRAPHER
COLLABORATORS: VINCENT POSADAS
PROJECT OVERVIEW
In collaboration with Vincent Posadas, I was tasked to produce a shirt/hoodie design in spirit and celebration of the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. By the end of the project, I produced a total of 3 designs that will be used as limited collection pieces for the months of April through June 2022. You can check out Vince's clothing brand Nothing Lasts Forever here.
inspiration
As part of the brief, I was asked to conceptualize a design inspired by the "finger heart"—a cultural reference and trend popularized by Korea. This hand gesture is meant to resemble a tiny heart formed by the thumb and index finger, which symbolizes affection towards others; the first step was to create different iterations of this design. And to stay consistent with the brand's tone, I based my design off of a skeleton hand along with flowers that grow from it.
DESIGN PROCESS
Because the client liked all of the iterations I produced, he gave me an opportunity to take the design concept even further. That means I get to make 3 shirt designs instead of only 1!
